So, it worked like this. Darkclarity drove out to Springfield, Massachusetts., without a hitch. The dark one picked up a temp tag for Rockelles replacement.
Things in Massachusetts are way over priced, food, hotels etc. maybe 50% or so. The road system makes little sense there. Here's the thing, it was worth it.
Darkclarity mounted the tag, geared up after noting what TLC was need. This bike screams to twist the throttle.

Off to Vermont to meet a friend. The rest area on US 91 looked like a barn from the outside and there were moose warnings. Yes, moose warnings. After a little mis-direction Darkclarity had a wonderful lunch at a wonderful diner with good friends. The conversation brought up a great road. Vermont SR 9 would take one into Albany and shave time off. It is one of those perfect roads to putt on the bike on. The zen of riding. Here is a one view:
This is very beautilful country, no doubt about it. Many pockets of snow on north faces and the temp up around 60f. Of course the need to stop in a small town for a soft drink proved friendly and satisfying. After crossing the New York line the terrain mellowed out and traffic thicker as one approaches the Albany skyline.
Darkclarity embarked on to the NY throughway where average speed seems to be 75-80 except for SUVs than drove 90mph. Darkclarity now assumes the gas prices are not really all that high to some people. It is like a regressive tax. The poor pay more while the rich just write it off as a price to do business. We digress.
Darkclarity had taken note of the squared off rear tire which gave that squirrely feeling at higher speeds and progressively got worse over the 600 mile trip. At the journeys end it looked like this:
Holy cow batman!
That warm air began to disappear after the sun went don and evaporate into the cloudless full moon night sky. This force more frequent stops along with the fact that this bike is not the GPz. Let's put it this way, The seat is a rock and make for good birth control, while the short wind screen blast the rider into submission. Without a throttle lock, it felt like a stroke took out my right hand. The 8 hour trip became 12.
Mods to make; Taller Wind screen, Throttle lock and new rubber.
